We are pleased to announce that we have begun beta testing on a brand-new line of Coiltek laser loop control systems. This new product line will be launched and available for purchase shortly. For more information on this exciting new addition to our line of loop controls, please contact us.
Coiltek has been creating ultrasonic loop control systems for over 30 years, and we have continued to update and innovate within this niche. Even with all of our efforts to create a reliable product, sometimes things still go wrong. Up till now, without a backup, that meant a down line until a replacement could be obtained.
Not anymore. Soon we will be introducing a product with two kinds of loop controls integrated into a single system, which we create a self-regulating, fail-safe device to keep a line up-and-running even when one half of the system is down.
Stay tuned for more details about this exciting new development!

Our best selling product, the CS-5000-72xx is the industry standard in non-contacting loop controls. And it’s not hard to see why. With an outstanding list of features and unrivaled ability for customization, not to mention a full line of useful accessories and free lifetime over-the-phone customer support, the CS-5000 series of no-touch loop controls is the gold standard.
Each CS-5000 is a custom build, with customers first choosing their stand height (15″, 54″, 72″, or 84″), with our 72″ stands being the most popular (hence the 72 in the part number mentioned earlier in this post). Customers then choose a boom length, which replaces the xx in the part number. With a wide range of boom lengths between 11″ and 48″, customers can order exactly what they need.
The new CS-5000 series of non-contacting loop controls contains our state-of-the-art new CB-5501M main control board. This new board has all the features of the previous generation CB-5101M board, such as on-board storage for up to 8 preset programs and remote access to 3 presets, plus virtually instantaneous push-button calibration that lets you set your unit up in seconds, USB compatibility for remote set-up, and a program-locking jumper. Best of all, the new board is completely backwards compatible, making it easy and affordable to update your current system by simply buying a replacement board.

As promised, todays topic is the specialty branch of the CS-5100 series of sonic controls: The CS-5140. This ultrasonic controls is distinguished from all of our other controls by the addition of three extra transducers, meaning that this model has 4 total ultrasonic transducers within the boom.
Like the CS-5100, the CS-5140 has no stand and is comprised of the boom (sometimes called the nose) which contains the special MX4 transducer board, a 15′ long 9-conductor cable, and an electrical enclosure containing our state-of-the-art, all new CB-5501M control board.
The necessity for a multiple transducer array can be seen in any line with vertical or horizontal stock movement. The CS-5140 can cope with either, depending on the chosen orientation, and accurately sense the stock height even with loop movement, by substantially widening the sensing area of the unit.
Here at Coiltek we sometimes joke that the CS-5100 line of loop controls are the Jan Brady of our loop control family. The tall, industry standard CS-5000 series is the Marsha, getting lots of attention for its adaptability and capable, reliable handling of lines big and small. The CS-6200 is the baby of the family, a small, affordable line that is perfect for many applications, such as plastic medical tubing, and representing a large step up for those looking to replace an existing Sonatrol unit.
Then there’s our CS-5100 series. It’s the proverbial middle child. It’s smaller than the CS-5000, because it lacks a stand, but it’s just as powerful, since it features the same new and updated CB-5501M control board. However, like the CS-6200 it is small, consisting of just an 11″ tubular housing (the nose or boom) containing the sensor, a 15′ long cable, and an electrical enclosure containing the powerful new CB-5501M control board.
The best of both worlds, the CS-5100 is as powerful as it is portable, and while you may not move it much within your shop, it’s small size is a boon when it comes to shipping costs. Likewise, all the accessories for our loop controls, from the Hammerhead, to the Cone of Silence, to the 3CPO are all compatible with these small but mighty units.
This series also has some very special add-ons for wide stock applications, which we will look at tomorrow. In the meantime, if you would like more information on our CS-5100 series of sonic loop controls, please visit our website, check out our brochures, and contact us.
We have had several inquiries as to whether or not our Coiltek ultrasonic controls can be used as replacements for the Sona-Trol systems created by Waddington Electric. The answer is a resounding yes. Our recently updated control systems represent the perfect replacement for a Sonatrol system.
In addition to being completely up-to-date and easy to use, our loop control systems are backed by a warranty and lifetime phone support from our expert staff. We stand behind our products and strive to provide the absolute best product and service available in loop control systems.

At Coiltek we try to anticipate any issues that our customers may have and create a solution. One such issue when using an ultrasonic loop control system is off-axis ultrasonic interference. This interference can be caused by things such as nearby blow-off hoses and can cause a unit to behave in strange ways.
Luckily we have devised a simple solution to issues of ultrasonic interference: The CTAC-2, nicknamed the “Cone of Silence”, the CTAC-2 is a cast aluminum cone lined with acoustic foam, which slides easily over the boom of your existing unit and absorbs any off-axis interference.
If you have any questions or comments on the CTAC-2 or any of our high quality no-touch loop control systems or accessories, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
At Coiltek we know that new equipment is a big investment and that equipment that has to work, just has to work.
Our equipment is built to stand the test of time. Using steel enclosures and stands and building our electronic components to last means that in all likelihood, you won’t need to replace your Coiltek unit any time soon. In fact, we are still getting calls to help update working systems from over 20 years ago.
If something should go wrong in the first year of owning your Coiltek unit, however unlikely that may be, any inherent failure of the boards is covered under the warranty. If you should need a replacement for a defective board, we will send you a replacement board and will cover UPS ground shipping to your location, as well as the shipping for returning the defective board to us. After the warranty expires, the parts can be repaired for a minimal fee, which at this point is $150 per board.
We also sell parts for all of our units, which means you don’t have to order a whole new system to get up and running again. If you have an older system and would like to update it, we have you covered: All of our systems are backwards compatible, meaning that our new boards work as well with our older models as they do with our new systems. For instance, 20 some years ago we created a system called the CS-4300. While all the electrical components of the CS-4300 are obsolete, the new electrical components of our current CS-5000 system have been specifically designed to fit this older model of stand, making updating your old unit into the equivalent of a brand new model as easy as purchasing two boards and a cable.
